On Friday, the Minnesota Realtors® staff came together for a staff training and development day, starting with discussions focused on professional growth and opportunities. In the afternoon, our families joined us at Target Field where we capped off the day with a Twins win. It was a wonderful day of professional and team growth, and the MNR staff looks forward to better serving our 21,000+ members! #MNRealtors

*HOUSING MARKET UPDATE* Pending sales rose for the first time in three months across all regions of the country. National Association of REALTORS® reported contract signings jumped almost 5% in June. Pending sales are often a key indicator of what’s to come for the previously-owned-homes market. So, what does this modest activity surge tell us? Three key things: 1️⃣ Buyers braved higher home costs in part because inventory has improved. Though we’re still in a seller’s market, buyers have more options and bargaining power right now. 2️⃣ Mortgage rates fell to their lowest level since May 2023 over the last few weeks. The 30-year fixed rate is approximately 6.4%, according to Freddie Mac data. This rate drop brought buyers back and encouraged more home sellers to list their properties. 3️⃣ Supply should continue climbing into the fall as rates stabilize. NAR’s Lawrence Yun commented, “A Fed rate cut in September looks certain. Mortgage rates are not directly controlled by the Fed, though some modest descent is already happening.” Stay tuned for our local market housing report coming later this week! Created by the MNR DE+I Committee, this award honors Realtors® dedicated to advancing fair housing, expanding homeownership opportunities, and closing the racial homeownership disparity gap in Minnesota. The recipient will be announced and recognized at the 2024 UNITE! convention in Duluth on September 25.
